Camping in the Udzungwa Mountains is an excellent way to experience the African rain forest and a wonderful opportunity to fall asleep with the sounds of the jungle in your ears. There are several campsites within the park, notably one at the top of the beautiful Sanje Falls, where the Udzungwa Mountains drop away revealing a spectacular view out over the Kilombero Valley.

 

Camp by the river and have the cook prepare you a wonderful meal while you walk through the forest to the waterfall plunge pools for a cooling swim. Sit under the stars and listen to bush babies in the trees, and watch out for pygmy chameleons wandering casually through the campsite. Keep an eye on the trees and forest canopy above your head, where troops of monkeys swing past your temporary home.
