Momella Wildlife Lodge

Momella Wildlife Lodge is well placed to offer the visitor easy reach of Arusha National Park and the flora and fauna resident within the park. Momella Wildlife Lodge is famous for hosting John Wayne, Elsa Martinelli and Hardy Krueger during the filming of the well-known "Hatari" film in in 1962.

Meru View Lodge

The Meru View Lodge is a comfortable and friendly lodge under German management, strategically located by the entrance to Arusha National Park and as the name suggests offering fantastic views of Mount Meru. Meru View Lodge offers 15 rooms in 11 bungalows, all tastefully decorated and named after Tanzania's most famous national parks and landmarks such as Kilimanjaro, Serengeti and so on. Each room is well-equipped with comfortable beds, mosquito nets and of course an en suite bathroom with solar-powered hot water and walk-in showers.

Karama Lodge

Karama Lodge offers luxury accommodation in the heart of natural forest. The accommodation consists of 22 log cabins, each with its own en-suite bathroom offering 24 hour hot water showers. The Karama Lodge cabins have their own private verandas where you can sit on the comfortable chairs and look out over the spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, the surrounding lush forest with its rich bird life, and the Maasai steppes stretching out beyond.

We said goodbye to our fantastic crew at breakfast, with Kili standing majestically in the background blanketed again in a fresh layer of snow. The final hike down on Day 6 was not too bad. We had a celebratory Kilimanjaro Beer at the lunch stop, and we all felt quite energised. I ran the last 9km. Well maybe that's a bit of an exageration!
