TanzaCat - Catamaran Regatta

This year is the tenth anniversary of TANZACAT, the largest open class catamaran event in Africa. This year TANZACAT will be held on 12-20 September 2008. This is an amazing opportunity for those who love to sail to include an exciting event with a Tanzania safari! The TANZACAT catamaran regatta lasts for 10 days and is hosted by the Dar es Salaam Yacht Club. The event includes 10 Olympic Course races and, naturally, the highlight is the sail to the beautiful and atmospheric island of Zanzibar!

The event started 10 years ago as a small scale race held in Msasani Bay, Dar es Salaam, and is now the largest of its kind on the continent, with a record 52 catamarans manned by over 100 sailors competing in one year. This year TANZACAT is combining with another organisation to bring you the joint TANZACAT - All Africa Hobie Championships, the first time this has happened and guaranteeing this year's event will be a huge success!
