Kilimanjaro Prices

There are many companies selling Kilimanjaro tours and the prices vary significantly. Some unscrupulous companies (often the ones offering the cheapest deals) are underpaying their staff who have little choice but to put up with it. Mountain Kingdom does not cut corners on safety, food or logistical practicality. We pay all our staff fairly and look after them in times of need.

As Mountain Kingdom Safaris offers a large variety of Kilimanjaro itineraries the pricing depends upon your requirements. Generally it will cost you around $1650 to climb Kilimanjaro depending on your group size.

Our field staff will give you a precise quote for your personal safari or trekking itinerary as soon as the finer details have been settled. Payment will be made by bank transfer or credit card.

Why is climbing Kilimanjaro so Expensive?

KINAPA is the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority. It is closely linked in with TANAPA, the authority that looks after the rest of the parks. KINAPA have set park fees, camping fees, rescue fees, and minimum salaries for the crews that will accompany any climb:

$60 - Kilimanjaro Park fees per adult per day

$50 - Camping or hut fee per night

$20 - Guide salary per day, 2 or more clients require 2 or more guides

$15 - Cook salary per day

$10 - Porter salary per day, 4 porters per client (3 on Marangu)

$20 - per person Rescue Fee

Based on two people, on Kilimanjaro for 6 days and 5 nights, the above alone amounts to over $1000 each. That's before we have provided transfers, accommodation in Moshi, camping equipment and all meals on the mountain etc. And of course we have to staff the office, pay taxes etc!

Unless otherwise arranged your climb or safari will include the following: all National Park and Game Reserve entrance fees, government levies and taxes, transport in a safari converted 4x4 vehicle with driver/guide, transfers as described, 3 meals a day (except in towns), accommodation as specified, bottled drinking water and listed excursions except those referred to as 'optional'.

Unless you have chosen an all inclusive game package staying at some of the most luxurious camps in the country, our prices do not include soft drinks, alcohol or items of a personal nature such as laundry and gratuities. International air fares, visas and travel insurance are also not included in our pricing.

Blog

I have one week to train for my 'last-minute' Kilimanjaro climb.  Last time I went up we had a 3 day blizzard at the top. This time I'm hoping for some sunny views from the summit, just like this one. Fingers Crossed.
