Northern Selous

The Northern Selous is a mixture of classic African bush, Miombo woodland, and open plains. There is plentiful game, especially in the lakes regions where numerous hippos and crocodiles wallow on the lake shores amongst a high diversity of bird life. The lakes have been created by the migrating meanders of the Rufiji River and provide a haven for a wide range of wildlife.

The Northern Selous is easy to access via the Matambwe Gate and is not far from the Beho Beho Hills, from which the view across the surrounding Selous is magnificent. The range of habitats and diversity of bird and animal life in teh northern Selous adds up to provide the ideal location for excellent game viewing and birdwatching and is well combined with a Kilimanjaro climb to produce a rounded Tanzania safari with a range of aspects.
