Ngorongoro

The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, the 7th wonder of the world, is located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara National Parks. The Ngorongoro Crater which is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. The crater (is approximately 610 metres deep and 260 square kilometers) Scenic grandeur with stunning views are guaranteed when visiting this wonder of the world.

Ngorongoro became a conservation area in 1959 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It is possible either to trek the highlands on foot (with an armed ranger) or to enjoy 4x4 game drives.

Ngorongoro is unique in Tanzania as the only conservation are allowing human habitation. Land use is controlled to ensure harmony with the wildlife population.

The area is part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, and Serengeti National Park. The annual wildebeest migration passes through the NCA, with wildebeest and zebra heading south into the area in December and moving north in June. This movement is dependent the rains. The NCA has a healthy resident population of most species of wildlife (including cheetah and lion populations).
