Serengeti

The name 'Serengeti' was derived from the Maasai language and means "Endless Plains" consists of grasslands, Miombo and Acacia woodlands in Mara Region. Serengeti is located in the North of Tanzania.

Serengeti National Park has more than 1.6 million herbivores and thousands of predators including lion, leopard and cheetah. Herbivores such as wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and buffaloes are the animals most commonly found in the region.

Serengeti National Park is most famous for the migration that takes place every year, which is considered to be one of the seven tourist travel wonders of the world. Every year around October nearly 1.5 million herbivores travel towards the southern plains, crossing the Mara River, from the northern hills following the rains. Then they head back to the north through the west of the Serengeti (Ikrongo Region), again crossing the Mara river, after the rains in around April. Over 250,000 wildebeest alone die along the 500 mile journey from Tanzania to Maasai Mara reserves in upper Kenya.

We recommend a 3 or 4 day visit to the Serengeti. For further information please Contact Us.
